LOCAL MISSIONS
Life Church understands there are many needs in our own community that are both physical and spiritual. We have various ministries within our church to help meet these needs. We also partner with several local ministries and encourage our people to volunteer. Listed below are some local missions opportunities. We encourage you to contact them directly or join us in our mission to reach and serve locally.
BAG BUDDIES
Each week a group of volunteers meet at Life Church to organize, pack and deliver food that will be placed in the backpacks of students who have been indentified as being at risk of going hungry. Each student is given enough food to get them through the weekend.
BENEVOLENCE
Twice each week we have volunteers that help with our benevolnece ministry. They meet with inidividuals who come by the church seeking help with utilities, food, and other assistance. During each interview we share the message of Jesus' love, offer additonal counseling, while assessing their need and how Life Church may be able to help.
RISING ABOVE MINSTRIES
Rising Above is a minsitry that works with families of special needs children. Their national office is located in Cookeville. Jeff and Becky Davidson, parents of a special needs child, founded and lead this ministry. They sponsor several events each year that require volunteers. HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
Habitat For Humanity provides affordable housing to qualifing families. They are a Christian organization that relies on the help of volunteers and donors. Their local office is located at 728 E. 15th Street, Cookeville, TN 38501. Local phone: 931-528-1711. Visit their website at pchabitat.org
COOKEVILLE RESCUE MISSION
For 38 years, the nonprofit Cookeville Rescue Mission has provided emergency, temporary shelter for the homeless. Offering two residential buildings plus a chapel, general store, salon and dental clinic, the Rescue Mission offers assistance lasting from three to 30 days for men, women and families in need. COOKEVILLE PREGNANCY CLINIC
Cookeville Pregnancy Clinic is a free medical clinic that offers confidential services, such as ultrasounds, pregnancy tests, peer counseling, and practical assistance. MUSTARD SEED RANCH
Mustard Seed Ranch (MSR) is an interdenominational Christian ministry serving children who have been neglected, abused, orphaned or are in need of a loving family environment. Learn more about how you can help at mustardseedranchtn.org
TEEN CHALLENGE OF THE UPPER CUMBERLANDS
Teen Challenge is dedicated to giving hope in Jesus Christ to those struggling with addiction, and teaching them to be productive disciples for the kingdom of God. They provide a long term Christian discipleship program ministering to women struggling with life controlling issues and transition men and women into other long term Teen Challenge centers, as well as offer drug abuse prevention education to local schools and youth groups.
